Poets and philosophers who have suggested, “art is the right hand of nature” surely had the Northwoods Art Tour in mind. Many of northern Wisconsin’s finest artists will, once again, open the doors of their private studios and galleries for the 16th annual Northwoods Art Tour. From 10 AM to 5 PM on July 29, 30, 31 and October 7, 8 and 9, visitors will have a rare opportunity to discover where many Northwoods artists live and work, and view their processes and inspirations.

This year’s free self-guided tour ambles through some of the prettiest back roads and byways in Vilas, Oneida, Iron, Langlade, and Lincoln Counties and features thirty-two studios and galleries, including several new tour artists. Tour visitors will experience, personal encounters with painters, potters, photographers, furniture makers, wood carvers, jewelers, glass, and fiber artists in their natural habitat, the studio where the magic happens.

Since this art tour is self-guided, guests may design their own “tour experience” by indulging their curiosity about artists and art processes that appeal to them. This event is planned with the needs and the interests of each visitor in mind, so there is no tour-attendee time commitment at any of the locations. Reservations are not required and there is no charge.

Artists will be discussing their creative processes and will reveal their inspirations. Questions will be answered. Ideas shared. Demonstrations given. Stories told. A variety of artwork will be available for purchase. Galleries will also have guest artists demonstrating.

Colorful guide brochures are also distributed by local chambers of commerce, area galleries, and businesses.
