About

Our story starts in 2016 at UWSP in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Samuel asked Taylor to go on their first date at the pottery studio on campus. Samuel had been throwing pottery since high school at Lakeland Union High and continued classes in college. Taylor, on the other hand, had no pottery experience. The pottery lesson was a great choice for a first date, because we have been inseparable since.

We eventually found ourselves living back in the North Wood’s after college: working and living the outdoorsy, lake loving life. We would constantly talk about how someday we would have a space to have a pottery studio. In 2021 we bought a lake lot covered with lots of ferns and tall red pines with a peninsula jutting out into the peaceful, quiet lake. We had a vision of what “Peters Point” would be. Freedom to be creative, a soon-to-be pottery studio.

We were hit with heartbreak when suddenly found out that Samuel needed a kidney transplant due to a genetic syndrome. We pushed through finishing our home (building it all ourselves), all while Samuel was put on the transplant list and started doing dialysis from home every night.

We did finish our house, in only 9 months, and we got that pottery wheel not long after.

Doing pottery began to be a passion project that took our minds off of everything that was happening. Samuel received his transplant in 2024 and pottery continued to be a hobby that brought life into our lives through a dark time.

The pottery that we make together is a labor of love, with both of our touches on each and every piece. Samuel is the throwing professional, while Taylor glazes every piece. Our glazing and design style is inspired by the beautiful place we live. All of our pottery is wheel thrown with the focus being functional pieces for every day use. From mugs, pitchers, oil pourers, bowls, cups, and our famous jewelry dishes - we like to have a diverse selection! We also create a variety of raku pottery to be used as eye catching decor pieces. Raku is a special type of kiln firing process that is unpredictable but creates a myriad of colors splayed across the glaze.

During the North Wood’s Art Tour, we will be hosting at our location in Lake Tomahawk on the corner of D and HWY 47. Walk through our studio setup there to see our finished pottery selection, as well as watching throwing and glazing demonstrations.

             See you there!

Much love, Samuel & Taylor Peters
